We are excited to announce that AgeCare’s newest long-term care community will be opening soon in Kamloops, BC!
Located at 580 Shuswap Rd. East overlooking the beautiful South Thompson River, AgeCare Sun Rivers will feature 100 bright, private suites. Along with the safe, comfortable home-like environment that can be found in all AgeCare communities, AgeCare Sun Rivers will feature a hair salon, a general store, and multiple gathering spaces including an atrium and spacious lounges.
“AgeCare is pleased to partner with the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc, the ministry and Interior Health for the opening of AgeCare Sun Rivers,” said Salimah Walji-Shivji, AgeCare CEO. “This community is a testament to AgeCare’s philosophy of providing the best quality-of-life experience for its residents through innovative and purpose-built infrastructure. We know these resources are essential and we look forward to welcoming residents to AgeCare Sun Rivers.”
AgeCare Sun Rivers is located on the territories of the Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve on this land, and we are working closely with members of the Indigenous community to ensure that their cultural traditions are acknowledged and celebrated at AgeCare Sun Rivers.
While this is AgeCare’s first community in Kamloops, it is our 15th home in BC, and it will join over 50 AgeCare homes located across Alberta, BC and Ontario when it opens in October. We are looking forward to being a part of the Kamloops community and providing residents of the area with housing options close to family and friends as their care needs change.
A formal announcement was made on Friday, September 6th on-site at AgeCare Sun Rivers. Hosted by Minister Adrian Dix, BC’s Minister of Health, AgeCare CEO Salimah Walji-Shivji, Vice President of BC Operations Khairun Jivani and Regional Director, Interior BC John Nocon joined Interior Health leadership and members of the media to share the news about the community’s upcoming opening. The full media release that accompanied the announcement event can be found here.
We are grateful for our partnerships with the Ministry of Health and Interior Health, without which this project would not have been possible. We would also like to extend a special thank you to our partners at Hestia Construction who have been working hard to bring AgeCare Sun Rivers to life and are currently adding the finishing touches to the building.
As the opening day for AgeCare Sun Rivers approaches, we are looking forward to welcoming residents to their new home, where they will enjoy high-quality, personalized care and the opportunity to age with dignity.
